For the 2nd years’ Digital PR unit, their assignment was to work with live clients; contact lens company CooperVision and shopping centre, Festival Place. The brief was to come up with a campaign that would create more online traffic to the organisations’ social media platforms and websites and pitch day was Monday 5th January!
The teams – Vision Five, PR4U, Venture and Alpha – pitched to unit course leaders, Mike Maynard and Fatimah Awan and Naomi Garrathy from PR agency Five by Five and Fiona Phelan from CooperVision. The students produced fun, exciting and creative campaigns for their clients – from Superheroes, to GoPros, to Healthy Eating to a Teddy Bears Picnic!
The pitch was held in the Solent University boardroom (there were urges to play The Apprentice theme tune!) making it a very realistic, and somewhat daunting, experience for the students and they left with an idea of what a pitch in the real world would be like.
Congratulations to the overall winners of the pitches;
Best Pitch – Team Alpha, with Katie Burchell, Hannah Whalley, Becca Shand, Livi Wilkes and Lauren Whitty
Best Student – Amanda Rochelle
A further thanks goes to Mike, Fatiman, Naomi and Fiona for being a part of the panel!
